Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) inspection of PT Pertamina (Persero) Fuel Terminal Bandung Group
Hi #SItizens,
PT Surveyor Indonesia Jakarta Branch conducted a Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) Inspection on the Padalarang Ujung Berung Pipeline, PT Pertamina (Persero) Fuel Terminal Bandung Group.
Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) is a screening method for pipe installations. Generally used to detect corrosion, erosion, mechanical damage, and other defects in pipes. A transducer circuit is mounted around the pipe and the ultrasonic waves are transmitted simultaneously along the pipe in both directions. The signal is received again by the same transducer, and the data is analyzed using the system software.
The main advantage of this technique is that it provides 100% of the initial scanning range, and requires little access to the pipe surface where the transducer assembly is to be mounted. This technique has the ability to inspect inaccessible areas such as clamps and sheathed or buried pipes. The transducer operated using a computer. The results of the LRUT analysis will be confirmed using the NDT (UT Thickness) method.
The working principle of Ultrasonic Thickness is to use sound waves to measure the thickness of a sample (metal) by measuring the length of time it takes for the sound to travel through the sample and return to the unit with constant velocity characteristics.
